Happy New Year !
あけましておめでとうございます This is a greeting for a new year!
Always feel so clean and fresh on New Year’s Day!
I am living in Dallas, TX but I always feel sharing Japanese tradition when I prepared for a new year. After Christmas, Japanese are very busy to cleaning up Christmas stuffs and clean from floor to ceiling. Then prepare food; Mochi もち and Osechi お節.
Most of Japanese are not daily practice religion but on the new year’s day so many people go to a shrine and throw money to the offertory box and pray for health, happiness, wealth and letting them pass the entrance examinations for schools.
Culture is something how we repeat same things s year by year and gradually have becoming a part of life, I though. When we respect our own culture, we can respect other cultures as well. My mission is to bridge two cultures, yours and mine.
May your 2018 be joyful and fruitful!
Make your new year resolution!
