Motoko Japan LLC joined Dallas Japanese Festival and displayed Ikebana.
I remembered Brian ‘s words. There are no failures. There’s only feedback! Yes feedback.
When I came across this festival for the first time was in 2011. I had been away from Japanese community. I just didn’t have any opportunities to get to know Japanese people.I was surprised to see many Japanese. Then I started to volunteer for the festival, working at the ticketing booth. Having new friend through volunteer, I could volunteer for my booth finally.
I wished some day I would like to have a Japanese culture booth at the festival. My dream came true!
Many challenges for cut flowers to be arranged outside. Originally Ikebana is supposed to be displayed inside of the house. But in this festival outside.
The temperature of September here in Dallas was high enough to kill flowers.
Ikebana will look smaller if placed in spaciou place. We have to make a bigger Ikebana than usual.
In Ikebana class we can use same materials but we have to show diffrent tastes and styles.
BUT nothing start from nothing. One of my friend told me,”Just give it a try! Then we will be able to make it better next time!” Very Positive.
I was so anxious about the Ikebana booth but the most important thing is to do my best with limited resources. I remembered Brian ‘s words. There are no failures. There’s only feedback! Yes feedback.
The event was successful.I was exhausted with preparing flowers and vases and all necessities, but it’s rewarding to see may people stop by and enjoyed our Ikebana.
I will do it much better next year, though it was time and energy consuming. I love Ikebana.I love to share in the joy and tradition of Ikebana.
