I like to visit the senior citizens’ home. Today I visited and enjoyed Ikebana with them. I demonstrated Shoka which consists of three main branches which are called Shin, Soe, Hikae. Very simple. The ides od Shoka represents upwoard energy of growing .Those proportions are 7:5:3. It is Japanese golden proportion. I demonstrated this style developed and completed in 19th century f. Then I used the same floral materials, we tried to make free style arrangement. It was a lot of fun!
This was our second workshop and I asked every participant a question.
“Which flower should be used in this place?” “What color do will look good with these branches? ” “How many should we use, two or three? ” I need some greenery here, which one do you like to arrange?” This time we created our Ikebana. It’s a lot of fun to make one Ikebana flower arrangement in a team. Team work! I was so impressed how they picked right one. Sometimes they pick a different flower I planed to use, which was also new and good lsson for me. This is my first time to involve participant and it worked really well.I taught them the basic ides and they also taught me new and different ideas.
Those are residents Ikabana. They did excellent job!
