July 7th was Tanabata; the Star Festifvalin and I enjoyed this special day in the U.S.A

七夕Tanabata is translated the Sta Festival in Engish but for me English word festival seems different for Tanabata. In Japanese this is one of five annual festivals. This is derived from Chnese legend. Orihime (Star Vega) and Hikoboshi (star Altair) can meet once on the Milky Way. Please watch the video of Tanabata story.

I  love this festival becuase the story is not only romantic but alsocosmic. it is also fun to make Tanabata decoration and write a wish. I loved to making the decoration. When I was in elementary school we had a gathering for Tanabata, singing Tanabata song. When I became a teacher, I brought bamboo branches to school and my students decorate and wrote wished.  Last year I went to Newtown CT and talked about Tanabata and made decoration. Always fun and I had a good memories about Tanabata.

This year in Dallas, I made decoration myself and wrote wished for Sandy Hook by myself. Also I visted a college and shared Tanabata. We wrote wishes. In the venong I joined Tanabta Enkai by Japan0 America society Dallas/Fort Worth and again wrote a wish. World Peace.世界平和 and hang it on  a bamboo branch. What a vey Japanese Tanabata day!  I made friends with many people. Great Tanabata day in the U.S.A.
