Kids enjoyed Janaken game of rock, paper, scissors at the new year event, Mochistuki

Kids likes the new year because they are given the year’s money, called Otoshidama from parents and relatives and guests and instead of Otoshidama kids played a game of rock, paper, scissors against me. It took longer than I expected. Kids were kids. They enjoyed playing this simple game. Please watch this video.

Last year I introduced Fukuwarai. Fuku is good fortune, and warai is laughter in Japanese. There is an old saying, 笑う門には福来る A house of laughter will bring goos fortune.  This is a game like Pin the  tail on the donkey. Instead of a tail, we use parts of a face.A Blindfolded person will make a funny face and everybody will laugh. The first laugh of the year. We would lik eto start a year with laugh and wish the new years good fortune and happiness.
