Kimono booth was really fun and we were so happy to see people enjoying the demonstration and smile in kimono with smile on their faces.
Otukimi, moonviewing was introduced from Chinas andonly upper class people enjoyed Otsukimi making poets over drinking sake. They saw the moon reflected on the water or surface of sake in the skae cup. They didn’t see the moon directly during Heian period( 794-1192). Then Edo period people enjoy spending outside under the moon. They also offer dangoto the moon with seasonal flowers.
Last night we could see beautiful full moon, I appreciated this opportunity to share both Japanese taraditional outfit and this beautiful custom in Dallas far away from Japan.
ALso they showed me how kimono is precious and beautiful to everybody.
Thank you for coming to Otsukimi!
I also displayed Japanese traditional uniform. They were donated from Japanese companies,Ozaki Shoji and Ogosangyo, both are top brand in Kurashiki, Japana for promote international understanding. I express my gratitude to those companies.
