Speech will start after 2:52
All newspapers and TV news spare much time and space for this historic visit to Hiroshima. My friends sent me an article of his speech and on Yahoo Japan, I saw many posts.
Usually I remember and think of the war, peace and A-bomb in August. August is the time to reflect Japanese history , freedom, peace, victims of the bombs and wars and pray.
When I discovered the news that President might visit Hiroshima, I thought how I could to to the news come true. I thought and thought. The I found a website to collect signature, Change org. Even though he could not have visit, I would like to have shown how many Japanese desired him to come. Fortunately, he could visit, though it’s too short to listen to more Hibakusha. I also sent email to White House to welcome him to Hiroshima after his visit was decided. As a citizen of which experienced Atomic bomb for the first time in human history, I share the same desire as Hibakushas do, though I am living far away, thought I have never experienced a war.
The world without nuclear weapon. To be the first and the last Hibakusha.
His visit meant a lot for me, Japanese and many Hibakusha. I hope more and more people, Japanese/non Japanese would visit Hiroshima and see and feel what all people in Hiroshima experienced on August 6 1945. Japanese are peace loving people and deeply regret the Pacific War, I believe. I would like to honor all war victims and survivors. Tomorrow is Memorial Day in the States. I would like to honor and remember all victims/ died for freedom, democracy, nation and family.
