Sent a welcome email to HIroshima to President Obama

Dear Mr. President,

I would like to express my gratitude that you will visit Hiroshima.

It is what the Japanese have long awaited.
Both young and old who have experienced the war.

I would like to welcome you to Hiroshima.

After 71 years, your visit to our land means more to Japanese people than you can ever imagine.

We appreciate that you can experience devastating aftermath of the atomic bomb that was detonated on Hiroshima.

Although it may be as challenging as for the Hibakusha to remember what happened to them and their ancestors…
Please understand it is their sincerest wish to make Hiroshima and Nagasaki the last places where nuclear weapons are used.

They understand the role that the Imperial government of Japan played in what ultimately occurred. However, there were innocent victims in their own country, as well.

During your visit you will witness suffering both mentally and physically.

Hopefully you will ensure that their voices are heard and shared with the rest of the world.

Japanese people like and respect you President Obama. You are our best hope for an everlasting peace.

Thank you for making my dream come true.

I am sure your visit will bring hope and inspiration to the world.

Sincerely,

Motoko
