Speaking of Otsukimi, Japanese think of Tsukimi Dango、Susuki;pampas grass and rabbits.
Dango is dumpling and they are offered to the moon expressing gratitude for the harvest.
Hanami dango is dumpling for viewing cherry blossoms in spring. Tsukimi dango is for viewing the moon in fall.
Pampas grass is fall grass. Otsukimi or Tsukimi is a fall event. O is to add politeness.
Rabbits are believed to live in the moon and they are pounding rice cake. When I was little, I made an effort to see rabbits in the moon. However it’s difficult.
This year in Dallas you will enjoy a taste of Japanese Tsukimi/Otuskimi on 15 October 6:30-9:30
See you at Kimono Booth!
