In April it’s a busy time of the year staring new term of schools and new fiscal year.
Entrance ceremony of companies and school are seen in early April. At the same time we enjoy cherry blossom viewing, welcoming new people and having fun with friends and family. We have cherry blossom front by weather forecasting service from middle of March and get excited to hear the news of the first blossom is found on a standard tree. From the south to the north the cherry blossom front goes up day by day.
It is called Hanami. Hana means flowers in general and mi or miru means to watch, to view but when we say Hanami , hana is cherry blossom. Every Japanese has a memory of cherry blossom. For example I cannot forget beautifully loomed cherry blossom on the day of entrance ceremony when I became a teacher welcoming new students, feeling so excited.
After fully bloomed blown by a wind, pale pink petals are blown like a snow flake. Hanahubuku. I felt like being in a spring pink petal shower. Lunch with friend and family. For me Hanami is a must event in spring. There are some unforgettable memories. Every year I wait for the cherry blossom from the very tight bud, fully bloomed , and then their petals blown by the wind. I miss Japan most in cherry blossom season. The shorter the peak of cherry blossom, the more I appreciate.
If you come to Japan in early April and following the cherry front, you will enjoy Hanami about one month from south to north. It’s my dream trip. Cherry tree were planted to bank along the river mainly because their root grows deep in the ground and add strength to the bank, I have heard. I admire the wisdom and knowledge and appreciate their work. Those are planted but there are so many beautiful cherry blossom grow in mountains and they are also very beautiful. Yoshino is famous for its cherry blossom. Over thousands of cherry trees are seen. Visiting mount Yoshino is also my dream!
