Meet Motoko

Inspired from Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese aesthetical philosophy, Motokois a Japanese lifestyle brand that strives to inspire joy and bring calmness to our minds, spirits, and homes by introducing traditional Japanese restorative arts and practices into our daily living. These practices, Ikebana, Japanese flower arrangement, and Sadou, Japanese tea ceremony, are offered by Motoko and her associates to encourage nourishment of the mind and spirit by allowing us to reconnect with ourselves and nature by finding joy in the stillness and simplicity of living. Patrons can experience the stillness of creation with Ikebana,
Japanese flower arrangement, and embrace the regenerative arts and practices of traditional tea ceremony.

Our Manifesto

We enourage our clients to discover Japanese culture, and rediscover themselves by delving into healing cultural experiences and embrace the richness and diversity it offers. The following is our manifesto: To inspire joy and introspection into daily living by embracing clarity with the experience of creation, and to reconnect with ourselves through the stillness that Japanese restorative arts provides.

Harmonious living starts by reconnecting with You.

Brand Story

ブランドのはなし

Enchanted with Ikebana since childhood, Motoko Ishihara started her path in the traditional art of Japanese flower arranging as a 15-year-old high school student In Kurashiki, Japan. After immigrating to Dallas, Tx, in 2011, Ishihara founded Motoko Japan LLC, a Japanese cultural-educational platform, to link traditional Japanese culture with the rest of the world. At home, Ikebana and tea ceremony was an integral part of Ishihara’s life.
“My mother always arranged flowers, and my great uncle was a well-known teacher of flower arrangements in town. As soon as I graduated from university, I started learning Ikebana, and then later, tea ceremony. My mother would make tea, usually black tea for guests, neighbors, and friends stopping by to visit. Occasionally she made matcha and served it in
the simplest way. It was always a special and peaceful experience that reminds me of my roots, and this is the experience I want to share with others.”
– Motoko Ishihara
Inspired by Ishihara’s story, Motoko aims to share these traditional Japanese ceremonial practices with the world to help rejuvenate a person’s life and the atmosphere of one’s home through these practices.
