I will start “Experience Japanese culture” class at Huffines Recreation Center in January 2015. This class will enable you to taste Japanese culture. I am Japanese native and I would like to share in joy of Japanese culture. Just a taste but it’ll be interesting. Just give it a try and have fun! I will be with you!
1 Learn basic Japanese and how to write your name in Japanese.
Please bring your pen to practice.You will learn greetings and simple self introduction and your name in Japanese.
2 Calligraphy You will write your name with ink and brush. Your name and ありがと う”Thank you.” If you want to write other words, please let me know previous week.
3 Origami You will learn how to make Samurai Helmet and a crane. Making a crane often needs patience. You will make thank you card with ありがとう and origami.
Please bring a pair of scissors. Color pens if you want to.
4 Ikebana ( the Japanese art of arrnaging flowers) I will show slide Ikebana slide show and a short demonstration: how to do Ikebana, using Ikebana scissors and frog (Kenzan). You will do Ikebana with a few flowers and greens in a simple vase. You will discover beauty of plants.You will see how beautiful it is without using bunch of flowers.
5 Tea Ceremony I will show you short demonstration. You will see how to make Macha, serve, and drink. You will eat confection for tea ceremony and taste tea. Also you will learn polite Japanese used in tea ceremony. Its manners and motions have not been changed almost over 400 years. You will be a prat of history!

6 Japanese snack Party I will bring popular Japanese snacks and you will taste all. Japanese tea or soft drink will be provided. You will also know how to eat healthy daily. Only one tip is ” Stop eating when you feel 80% full.” Fun Snack Party!
