Ikebana for prayer

Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging which originated from a Zen priest in Kyoto over 555 years ago.

First, it was offering flowers to Buddhist deities ( Buddhism came from China vis Korea Peninsula in the 6the century. One priest who was really good at arranging flowers appeared and his flower arrangement gathered a lot of people. It was in 1462. It was not just a floral decoration or offering flowers but appreciate life and the beauty of plants with philosophy and theory. Since then Ikebana has been adapting to the changes in society and lifestyle.

However, this year due to COVI-19, Ikenobo, which is the name of the Ikebana school, offered flowers for prayer to the people who died of COVI-19 and the family and healing and peace.

Ikebana has been a big part of my life and I personally, have never thought of arranging flowers for prayer. I have brought graveyard but not arrange in Ikebana style.

I felt healed to watch the video Ikenobo headmaster and headmaster designate offered flowers. I would like to arrange flowers for the people.
