Ikebana month June

In June I had Ikebana workshop at Crow Collection, a lesson , a volunteer workshop and a club. This month I enjoyed meeting people and sharing joy of Ikebana. June’s flower for me  were peonies and gladiolas.                                                                               peony

Peony is gorgeous and has an elegant fragrance. I like its delicate petals and colors.

A peony is a symbol of prosperity and good luck in Japan. Also a beautiful lady is compared to a peony.   Peony is beautiful itself and it doesn’t need other beautiful flowers, I think.  In Japan we have a vase specially made for a single stem.To stand out its beauty I prefer using a single stem with its leaves.   I prefer 80% bloomed  not fully bloom because I can enjoy its process toward full bloom with an expectation.

I used a lot of gladiolus too. They are gorgeous and beautiful too. more masculine than peony. I love the varieties of the colors which conveys different impressions.
