Ikebana Volunteer

I am ver happy to share my Ikebana skill and knowledge with others.  I started Ikebana volunteer just a year ago.  One year has passed so quickly.

I wanted quality time.  I had thought about how I could contribute this community, what I could do, what I liked to do, and what I could do better than otheres.   All I could think was something Japanese.   I spent so much energy and passion in learning English and Ikebana!   I wondered who wanted to need something different  and new. I applied for a volunteer for the hospice center and she appreciated my skills.  Then we started to visit seniors and Ikebana and  tea ceremony volunteer.  I keep learning.    I wished a Jananese friend could join me and did volunteer together.  That dream came true!

Three of my Ikebana friends (students) joined volunteer. It was a lot of  fum. We and residents had a good time. We wore yukata, a sumer cotton kimono. New people, new experiences, and sharing beauty of flowere and people are alwasy nice!  I am very happy!

One resident named her Ikebana flower arrangement ” Celebrate Life! ”

I  was so impressed by her. Whenever I volunteer, I can learn something new and got energized by participants.

More people, more fun and joy!
More people, more fun and joy!
