My Japanese culture experience class at Huffhines Recreation Center was over. I has one student and we had a very good teaching /learning time and exchanging and discussing cultures and behaviors. It’s so precious to me.
This is my dream (goal) to share Japanese culture with many people here in the United States. Thank you Ada, my fist student at the Recreation Center.
Thank you Michelle! She let me start a class and has been helping and encouraging me at the Recreation Center over a year.
Class has 4 lessons.
Calligraphy She wrote her name and her favorite words in Japanese. Japanese has three ways of writing.Kanji 漢字 literally it originally came from China. Hiragana ひらがな and Katakana カタカナ。Both were made from Kanji.
Orgami Make a crane which is one of the most traditional and popular and samurai helmet. Also we make a beautify motif by cutting origami paper. It’s fun!
Ikebana Learn short history and a few important ideas and skills. Arrange and make her own Ikbana. Great job!
Tea Ceremony Learn short history and see my demonstration. See how to serve and drink. She tried and then let her wear summer kimono and tried again. Just wearing kimono changed her behaviors and atmosphere. We experience Ichigo Ichie. 一期一会means encounter once in our life time. The moment we shared is only one time and never happen again in the future so we should appreciate.
I found this goal , sharing my Japanese skills with many people, when I was writing a chapter of Cracking The Success Code. Ikebana and Tea Ceremony are my expertise.
