IMG_1630  I love to visit a senior citizen’s home near my apartment. I’ve visited since last September.  I like the residents and people working there.  I was brought up among grand parents with many visitors and friends so I like to be surrounded by people.

We had Ikebana and tea ceremony, traditional Japanese culture.  Today I brought 6 kimonos and let residents try kimono. It was a lot of fun, Ladies loved beautiful dress any time any where.  They know which color matched them the best.  I could not tied Obi belt but they still very good in traditional Japanese kimono. They looked very elegant and beautiful. I would love to try again.

Kimono is traditional Japanese dress. Their design pattern is just one. The length of the sleeves tells how formal and if she is married or unmarried.  The most formal kimono for a single woman is called Furisode. It has the longest sleeves. At the age of twenty we celebrate being adults. women wear Furisode for ceremony. Formal kimono is made of silk and so is obi belt.  It is very expensive but parents love to buy for their daughters. Some people prefer rental ,kimono.  Patters are mainly represent for happiness, good luck, nature and season.  All white is for a bide. A colorful orange or red with gorgeous embroidery is also for a bride.  Nowadays kimono are not  daily. Mainly wedding. wedding party, Adult’s Day, Tea ceremony.  Most women cannot wear kimono by themselves and they must learn form teacher. I also learned form a kimono teacher. Her heart and mind are as beautiful as kimono.

Why don’t you try kimono? Wear it and enjoy taste of tea ceremony. My goal is to share in joy of Japanese culture.    Brian Tracy encouraged me to start my dream job!
