Kimono is well known Japanese traditional dress and the most beautiful kimono is Furisode, which is the most formal for unmarried women. In January second Monday you can see full of young women in Furisode, who celebrate coming of age. Furisomeans literally swinging sleeves and it has very long sleeves. After you married, you are not de supposed to wear it. You can make the sleeves shorter and wear it but not many people do that. If the Furisode is very high quality kimono , it will be handed to a daughter or granddaughter or relatives. Buying Furisode for a daughter is parents pleasure, though expensive.
These days more and more people wear in rental kimono but still many families buy for their daughter. I had a change to dress Furisode for a high school student who was honored for her academic achievement. I shared her great achievement and honor. It’s a great occasion. I practiced and reviewed how to knot obi belt for a gorgeous kimono. Always nice to work with something beautiful and traditional!!!
Thank you for appreciating traditional beauty! You are so pretty!!!
