When do you feel at peace with yourself? What makes you smile?
Beauty may help you!
Take time to pause and appreciate the beauty around you.
Do you remember the moment you were moved by the beauty of nature? What was the feeling?
If you cannot remember let’s take time to create the moments.
I would like to introduce this book.
It is all about Ikebana; Japanese traditional flower arranging/the Japanese art of flower arranging. Flowers brighten your daily life just being around you. However, if you touch, smell, cut, and talk to them and arrange them, during the process, facing a living beauty, you will experience much more than just making a beautiful decoration for a room.
This is for a beginner who has never tried, or even heard of Ikebana; to show what Ikebana is like, and how you can do Ikebana by yourself. The author will guide you in sharing her experiences on Ikebana.
If you read through the book and follow the instructions, you will be able to enjoy doing Ikebana.
Just give it a try. Ikebana is a Japanese traditional art or translated ‘The Japanese art of flower arranging’, however, it is not only for the Japanese but for everyone.
Especially in this time, we need a companion and moments of peace.
The author is a Japanese native and licensed 1st class assistant professor of Ikenobo Ikebana with a learning and teaching experience of 35+years. She migrated to the U.S. in 2010, teaching Ikebana using plants she could get in the States which were easy to access. Even though floral materials and the weather are not the same in the U.S., you can share the joy of Ikebana.
After reading this, I hope you will turn off your smartphone/laptop and prepare flowers from your yard or shops. Give it a try! Experiment!
