I went back to Japan to attend Church convention in Tokyo(IESU NO MITAMA CHURCH, Spirit of Jesus Church) and collect origami cranes for Sandy Hook Elementary. I was so impressed such many people would love to share their grief and console them. They would liked to embody their prayer into an oarigami crane, wishing their crane would be any help and wanting to be with them. In such short period over 30000 origami cranes were made by Japanese. Still now more is being made. Though the numbers does not matter, but I would like to let them know that they are not alone.
I asked my former students and friends who could contact to on line if they would like to make origami for victims for Sandy Hook. All of them were happy to make origami cranes , praying and wishing for their peace in heaven and heal of rest of the families. Each of them had love and his/her own prayer, wish, and hope.
One of my former student became a mother of a junior high school students where she graduated and I had taught for the first. She started to make origami with her daughter. Furthermore a president of PTA was also my former student and whole parents and students and teachers made origami cranes and it count 7000 in about a month.
A students aged 23 working at Curves she told her co workers and more people began to make origami. also the members of the gym donate origami paper. There were people who made origami cranes even after exercise. More and more members joined and total it counts around 7000. One old guy made 3000 by himself . He said ” I will be more than happy if these origami cranes will fly to the little angels and teachers and their families.”
Also another elementary school and high school in Shimane, which is not my home prefecture Okayama, made and are making origami cranes. There are girl scouts, child care places, grandmother of a children, boys, girls, young and old.
Some may think Origami cranes would not be any help, but they are our love, care, prayer and hope. I would like them to accept our love. I am wondering how I could meet their family. I appreciate your advice. Thank you very much.
