Share in joy of Japanese Culture Otsukimi: Moon Viewing

In spring Japanese enjoy cherry blossom viewing and in fall moon viewing. Moon viewing is only one or two nights while cherry blossom round a week. Another viewing in fall we  Momiji viewing, which maples and other trees changed their color red and yellow.

This year I enjoyed moon viewing with many people in Dallas. I volunteered at calligraphy section. I enjoyed meeting people, talking about calligraphy , moon viewing, the words 月、美、友、心、愛 (moon, beauty, friend, heart, love). Calligraphy is leaned at elementary school in Japan. It’s traditional art. It’s so much fun to share Japanese culture and I enjoyed Otsukimi Dango ( moon viewing dumping).

I was surprise to hear a Haiku by a young girl. She made a really good one. I heard that Japanese haiku has many fans all over the world and it’s true!
