When August comes, I think and thank peace and freedom I enjoy.

It is already in the middle of August when I always thing of peace according to the Japanese war memorial August 15. ALso. it is Obon, (Aug13-15 or 16 )when the spirit of ancestors come back to this world and leave for that world.

Speaking of ancestors, how many ancestors existed before me. Life does not mean just one life. There were many before one and there will be many after one. How precious life is.

How much tear and grief prevailed the world. I should not forget the sacrifices of civilians and militants all over the world and offered silence and prayer.

At least once a year, we should think of peace and sacrifices, and history. As I got old, I felt much deeper sorrow and appreciation on this day. I wish world peace.

Emperor Naruhito made a speech which represents the Japanese,

“We are currently facing further hardship due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, but I sincerely hope that we are all working together to overcome this difficult situation and will continue to pursue happiness and peace,” Naruhito said. “Together, with all of our people, I would like to pay a heartfelt tribute to all those who lost their lives during the war… and pray for world peace and for the continuing development of our country.” His remarks were consistent with his inaugural speech as emperor last year, in which he acknowledged Japan’s responsibility by expressing “deep remorse” for its wartime past.
